The name comes from the Anglo-Saxon Æthel — meaning noble — and ræd — meaning counsel. Together: noble counsel.
History remembers King Æthelred II by a different title — Unræd — the ill-advised. Not because he lacked intelligence, but because he surrounded himself with poor counsel and paid the price. His reign became a lesson etched into history: bad advice is more dangerous than no advice at all.
